Prior to this, he had served on a number of important posts. Among the posts held by him was that of ASP in Pondicherry, SP in Arunachal Pradesh, Addl. DCP in South District & New Delhi District, DCP North West, Central Distt. And FRRO, ACP, Southern Range, Head Quarter and Crime Branch, New Delhi, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mizoram and SPG, Delhi. On promotion, Inspector General of Police in Special Protection Group. Also posts held Joint Commissioner of Police Headquarter, Delhi, Inspector General of Police, UT of Chandigarh w.e.f. 9.10.2006, on promotion, Director General of Police, Chandigarh w.e.f 15.9.2009 till 1.2.2010 and Special Commissioner of Police (Vigilance) from 6.2.2010 to 31.1.2011.
