Anti – Fire Crackers  

‘Anti – Fire Crackers Campaign’ with the theme‘Say No to Crackers' is being conducted through various media on the occasion of Diwali festival. A multi-dimensional strategy with prime focus on students, RWAs and MTAs is being adopted. The campaign has resulted in substantial reduction in pollution level during Diwali.
 
Anti-Plastic Bags
 
‘Say ‘No’ To PLASTIC BAGS' – adopt alternatives like Jute, Cloth & Recycled paper bags’ campaigns is being conducted through different media to educate public about harmful effects of plastic bags.  As ‘an important component of this awareness campaign as well as to make Delhi free of thin Plastic bags

The Delhi Plastic Bag (Manufacture, Sales and Usages) and Garbage (Control) Act, 2000 has come into effect from 2.10.2001 in the NCT of Delhi. According to the Act, Manufacture, Sales and Usage of Recycled Plastic Bags for storing, carrying and packing of food is prohibited in NCT of Delhi. In addition, minimum thickness of any plastic bag should not be less than 20 microns.

Degradable plastic bags became mandatory in the following system from 5th June'05.They are

    1. 100 bedded and above hospital
    2. All five star & four star Hotels
    3. Restaurant & eating places having more than 100 seat capacity.
 
Yamuna Safai Abhiyan
 
On the occasion of World Environment Day, Department of Environment, Govt. of Delhi, launched ‘Yamuna Safai Abhiyaan' for cleaning the banks of river Yamuna at various sectors, which evinced enthusiastic participation of NCC students, Resident Welfare Associations, Non-Governmental Organizations and other Government departments
 
Khelo Holi Naturally
 
Department of Environment, conducted a campaign on 'Khello Holi Naturally', during Holi festival. Stalls of Natural Colours were arranged through NGOs at Delhi Hatt for distribution of the natural colours to the general public. Natural colours packets were also sent to the different stake holders. This programme received enthusiastic support from the general public.
