1) ANMC – 21:

The concept of Asian Network of Major Cities 21 (ANMC 21) was conceived in the first meeting of four founder cities namely Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Seoul & Delhi in Kuala Lumpur on 28/08/2000.
The basic objective was to take up the joint projects on various issues for mutual benefit of the member cities.
At present there are 12 members of this consortium namely Bangkok, Beijing, Delhi, Hanoi, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Seoul, Singapore, Taipei, Tokyo & Yangon.

The first Plenary Meeting of the consortium was held in Tokyo on 16-18th October, 2001, second in Delhi on 20-22nd November, 2002 which was a grand success.

 

17 Joint Projects have been identified under the initiative and Delhi is the organizing city in respect of following 3 Joint Projects:

1) Participation of Women in Society.

Delhi is also participating city in 12 other Joint Projects.
Delhi is going to organize a “Performing Arts Festival” from 1st – 3rd November, 2003 under the Joint Project “Asian Performing Arts Festival” in which Delhi is a participating city.
The Social Welfare Department has set up a number of gender resource centers under the Joint Project “Participation of Women in Society”.
Under the Joint Project “Asia Distance Learning Project”, a Memorandum of Agreement was signed on 23rd January, 2003 by the 6 participating member-cities to give direction towards future tasks of these projects.

2) Twining Agreement:

Delhi has entered into sister-city agreements with the following cities on the dates indicated against each:

Delhi with Chicago – 10/10/2001.
Delhi with Ulaanbaatar – 25/05/2002.
Delhi with London – 25/07/2002.

Delhi with Moscow & St. Petersburg – 25/09/2002

Delhi with Yerevan - 13/9/2008

Delhi with Beijing - Nov,2013


The main objective of the agreement is to have mutual cooperation in the field of education, art, culture, sports, industries, solid waste management, transport etc. Follow-up action is being taken on each of these agreements to realize the above objectives.
