The Constitution of India ensures equality, freedom, justice and dignity of all individuals and implicitly mandates an inclusive society for all including Person with Disabilities.

The Department of Social Welfare is the nodal department in GNCT of Delhi for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons and believes in the fact “Help the Differently Abled Persons to help themselves”.

According to the India Census 2001, there are 2.19 crore people with Disabilities, who constitute 2.13 percent of the total population. According to the National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO) 5% of our population of 102 crores is with disabilities.

The Delhi Govt. through its various initiatives and program’s is rendering full support to the Differently Abled Persons, so that they can live with full participation and have equal involvement in the every aspect of Society.
