DATRC at IHBAS is recognized as the nodal center for drug abuse and alcoholism. In this capacity it advices the Government on various aspects of drug abuse in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The centre not only provides twice a week outpatient services in the field of drug addiction but also has a 20-bed inpatient treatment facility. It also provides services to the patients having dual diagnosis of substance abuse and psychiatric diagnosis.

The centre is actively involved in organizing workshops for developing linkage and networking with NGOs working in the field of drug abuse & alcoholism in Delhi.

DATRC is also active towards increasing awareness of the general public in the area of drug abuse, alcoholism and HIV. It organizes community awareness programmes and exhibitions at various places.
