Introduction(its purpose/activities):
The department of Obstetrics & Gynecology with 187 beds is one of the busiest in GTB Hospital and is well known in Delhi & National Capital Region for providing advanced excellent health care facilities to patients from far & wide and high quality academics and research. It provides tertiary care facilities in various subspecialties such as gynae-oncology, reproductive tract plastic surgery, high risk pregnancy, reproductive medicine, adolescent and geriatric gynecology & family welfare. The department has special clinics- infertility, menopause & H.R.T, high risk pregnancy, colposcopy & gynae- oncology, adolescent care, Voluntary Counseling Testing & Prenatal Thallessemia screening. Besides routine gynecology and obstetric management, the department provides facilities for ultrasonography, minimally invasive surgery, colposcopy & infertility treatment. It boasts of experienced, hard working, competent and highly academic faculty who have large number of publications in national & international journals, several books and national & international awards to their credit. This is the most sought after department for post graduates education and is now emerging as research centre for many national & international collaborative studies. It has a unique distinction of bagging R.D. Pandit National award for best Post Graduate Thesis in Gynae & Obs in india for a record of eight times in the last 13 yrs. Besides this the department has organized many national & international conferences, workshops & CME and is a training centre for several Government of India programmes including State level RCH training for doctors & Para medicals.
