Noprice control on free sale of food items is imposed by the govt. exceptthe items sold through PDS outlets. However, upper stock limits areprescribed under various Control Orders issued by govt. from time totime. For pulses, stock limit is prescribed as 2000 quintals forwholesalers/producers for all pulses taken together, and 50 quintalsfor retailers. There is, however, no upper limit for imported pulses.There is no upper stock limit for the commission agents who do notretain any consignment of pulses received for a period exceeding 15days from the date of its receipt.
