Delhi Fire Service Auto Workshop

Delhi Fire Service continues to maintain workshop under the charge of  Chief Fire Officer, Dr. G.C. Mishra, for repairs and maintenance of all the vehicles on the fleet of Delhi Fire Service. Workshop attended about 10500 (ten thousand five hundred) jobs in the year 2008-09.

Wireless Communication Section

Located at Shankar Road fire station, headed by a communication officer, the section is providing the complete backup for upgradation and maintain of the wireless communication network of Delhi Fire Service that comprises of static sets at the fire stations and mobile sets on the fire fighting and specialized appliances.

Multi storey Cell

Located at Delhi Fire Service headquaters, headed by a Chief fire officer, the section is mainly responsible for fire prevention activities of Delhi Fire Service. All the fire prevention advice cases for issue of NOC (No Objection Certificate) are dealt by this section.

Water Section

The water section is mainly responsible for arrangement of water supply during fires. This section also examines the necessity of installation of Fire Hydrants and construction of underground water storage tanks throughout Delhi. A routine inspection and maintaince of all such facilities are carried out by this section in close coordination with MCD(Municipal Corporation of Delhi), NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Council), DJB(Delhi Jal Board) and DDA(Delhi Development Authority). In order to ensure supply of adequate quantity of water, underground water storage tanks of capacities varying from 50000 liters to 150000liters have been constructed at strategic locations in Delhi. The number of tanks under different authorities is as under:
  1. Municipal Corporation of Delhi area: 259
  2. New Delhi Municipal Council area: 039
  3. Cantonment Board area: 001

General Store

The General Store was functioning under the control of Assistant Commissioner (Fire) with staff of stores. The procurements for clothing, equipment and other miscellaneous items required for maintaining the day-to-day working of fire stations and the officers were initiated after observing the financial instructions. The procurement worth Rs. 15,94,258 was done by General Store during the year 1997-98.

Fire Report Section

Located at Delhi Fire Service Headquarters, headed by a Divisional Officer, the fire report section is meant for keeping records of all the emergency calls that are received by the Delhi Fire Service. The fire report is also available online at Delhi Fire Service website www.dfs.delhigovt.nic.in and same can be downloaded free fo cost by general public.  


Welfare & Recreation Activities

The recreational facilities continued to be available at each fire station during the year under report. The television and radio sets, indoor games were enjoyed by the employed by the employees of this Service during their stand-by duties.As usual the Labour Welfare Office of the Govt. of National Capital Territory of Delhi made magazines, newspapers, newspapers and sports items available.

Dispensary

A dispensary continues to function at the Headquarters premises forthe benefit of the service personnel and their families. This hasproved very beneficial for the staff members and their families.
