  The objective of the scheme is to conduct need based environment survey and data generation on quantum of pollutants generated from various sources such as Industries, Vehicles, Thermal Power Stations, Domestic Sector and the impact of pollutants on the Ambient Air and Water bodies in Delhi. Under the scheme, various environmental studies through NGO's, reputed consultancy organizations, Research and Academic Institutions are conducted by providing necessary financial assistance to them. 1. Name of the Scheme/Project Environment Data Generation, Survey, Research projects and other activities.
2. Aim and objective of the Schemes
  1. a) To conduct need based environment surveys, and data generation on continuous basis on Quantum of pollutants generated from sources such as industries, vehicles, thermal power stations and effect of hazardous, toxic waste on ground water and other water bodies.
  2. b) To update the environmental status through need-based surveys on various aspect of pollution, in order to asses the impact of pollution on human health and the overall environmental up gradation in Delhi.
3. Cost of the Scheme/ Project, Major components and date of approval Cost of scheme: Rs.250 lakhs
Major components are:
  1. Data creation in respect of Vehicular Pollution; Air pollution; Water Pollution; Noise Pollution; Land degradation and other anthropogenic source of pollution.
  2. Assessment of impact of Pollution on environment.
  3. Research & Development work on various options to control pollution.
4. Year of Commencement, Target date of completion and present status Since 9th Plan and continuing till date.
5. Outlay and expenditure (Rs. In lacs) for previous plans
  • Expenditure upto 9th Plan, if any:
  • Approved outlay 10th Plan (2002-07) : 230 lakhs
  • Expenditure incurred during 2002-03 to 2005-06: 35 lakhs
  • Outlay & Anticipated Expenditure during 2006-07: 30 lakhs
6. Outlay proposed for 11th Five Year Plan (2007-12) and annual Plan 2007-08 (in case of spill over scheme from 10th plan, the same may be highlighted specifically):

  8. Techno-feasibility study for common facility for Treatment and disposal of Hazardous waste for Delhi and adjoining districts of Utter Pradesh and Haryana
  9. Preparation of plastics waste management plan for Delhi
  10. Development of Community vermi culture technique and its demonstration for waste management
  11. Cost benefit assessment of CNG introduction in Delhi
  12. Optimization of conditions for reducing the BOD loads as well as TSS of sewage up to the standards for STPs(BOD-10 mg/1; TSS-15 mg/1)
