 Introduction
The Department of Prevention of Food Adulteration was constituted by Government of N.C.T of Delhi vide notification No.F.4(178-CC (V)) dated 19/6/1978 and renamed as “Department of Food Safety” vide notification No.F7(171)/2011/Admn/PFA/13661-73 dated 21/03/2012 .The new Food Safety and Standards Act,2006 in place of PFA Act 1954 is being implemented by the Department of PFA w.e.f 5th August 2011 in the entire local area of N.C.T of Delhi for laying down science based standards for article of food and to regulate their manufacture, storage ,distribution, sale and import to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption. As per the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and Rules as well as Regulation 2011, it is mandatory to get registration/licenses for all Food Business Operators.
