Govt. of NCT of Delhi has set up Delhi Parks & Gardens Society to monitor & coordinate the management of all Parks & Gardens in NCT of Delhi under the various civic agencies. It is registered in August 2008 under the Society Registration Act. 1860 with  registration no. S/ 62922/2008.

            Delhi is one of the greenest metropolitan cities in the world. A lot has been done to bring its green tree cover to 20% (320 sq. km) in 2008 from 3% in 1998 as per Forest Survey of India report. The target has now been set to achieve 25% by 2010 and 33% by 2012. To meet the target, Forest Department and Horticulture wing of other Civic agencies viz. DDA, NDMC, MCD, PWD, DJB and CPWD etc. are geared up for greening Delhi. With the development greenery in Delhi residents of Delhi would in a position to breath in fresh air and it would attract thousand Foreign Visitors. Recent development of greenery in the various Stadiums sites   and on Road Sides in national capital territory of Delhi in this direction in view of CWG-2010 in coordination with various civil agencies by the Society is an example of recent development.

            To achieve the mission the Society provides financial assistance out of release Grant-in-Aid fund provided by the Govt. of Delhi to RWAs for development of greenery, maintenance and upkeep of parks adopted by them owned by various civic agencies and others outside forest area. The society also holds training programme with assistance of NGOs working in this field and hold seminars from time to time and for that purpose provide financial assistance also. The society   monitor and coordinate with various civic agencies in respect of greenery work done by them.
