Mission of the department is to promote growth of industrial and commercial activities by ensuring harmonnious relationship between employer and workmen, providing statury cover to the workmen through preventive, conciliatory effort, adjudicatory, punitive action and promoting welfare oriented activities to alleviate from the suffering of the working class in the nationnal capital territory of Delhi.
Responsibilities assigned to the department are:
1.
Enforcement of various labour laws.
2.
Conciliation of disputes between worker and management.
3.
Referring the disputes to the labour courts & industrial tribunal for adjudication.
4.
Welfare related activities through welfare boards and departmental machinery by implementing the provisions laid down under Labour Legislations.
