Prof. Kiran Walia was born in a prominent family of freedom fighters, whose father closely associated with veteran Sh. Bhagat Singh, had performed so many works in the interest of Nation. Her family members in the patronage of Congress have served the public and country. Thus her childhood grown in patriotism and political environment.It is clear that Prof. Walia was affected with the family environment and thus she has joined the active politics with the mission of public welfare and service of nation. She started her professional carrier as a teacher in the College of Delhi University.
During this period of teaching she has always been struggling for educational, social and works related to political activities and their values. She is known as honest, hardworking, clear hearted and dynamic woman. During her tenure as Chairperson of Delhi Women Commission she fought for the rights of women. Being a kind hearted nature she has been able to solve the problems of people and whole development of her area. Educational Qualifications

Presentation of Research papers in the Seminars of many Universities of country and abroad. | During this period she was the first woman who won from the record vote in Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) and represented the Teachers Association in Executive Council and Literacy Council for more than two decades and thereafter she headed the Teachers Cell in All India Congress Committee for three years and Chairperson of South Delhi District Development Committee and now Minister of Health, Women & Child Welfare in Delhi Government. She won her election three times as candidate of Congress Party.
